The Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) hosted a delegation of researchers from Hoshi University for a joint seminar on April 21 – 22. The seminar, entitled “Future Healthcare – Biomedical Sciences, Technologies & Applications” followed on from previous joint events held in Dublin (April 2015) and at Hoshi University in Tokyo (October 2015).

The relationship stems from a long-standing collaborative relationship between Prof John Waddington (RCSI) and Prof Hiroko Ikeda (Hoshi University). The Hoshi University delegation, led by Prof Ikeda, consisted of eight PhD, Post Doc and PI researchers. Their visit to Dublin proved to be a further step in the strengthening relationship between the two institutions.

The seminar was opened by the Ambassador of Japan to Ireland Ms Mari Miyoshi. As well as scientific presentations from the Hoshi University delegation and leading RCSI researchers, the attendees joined a discussion forum to explore potential areas of collaboration.
